Hello, I'm Sam Vessel! As of May 01, 2026, I successfully completed my chemical engineering undergraduate degree with a minor in environmental engineering at the University of Cincinnati (UC). As a member of the University Honors Program, I created this portfolio to share about myself and my experiences with the world. Within the university, I was a Darwin T. Turner and Cincinnatus Scholar. Additionally, I am an active member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honor Society (OXE). Some of my favorite hobbies are spending time with family and friends, being active outdoors, watching movies and sports, traveling, and helping others.

It has been a long-time personal goal for me to use my love and appreciation for math and science to major in engineering. While I am not exactly sure where I want to end up or what I would like to do, I am committed to giving my best effort as a working professional and applying all the knowledge I have gained along the way. At UC, I initially chose mechanical engineering because it is one of the broadest engineering disciplines and provides a wide variety of career opportunities. I transferred into the chemical engineering program halfway through my freshman year because I felt the coursework and career options aligned better with my interests. Nevertheless, I believe myself to be a strong candidate for any job that I set my mind to, making full use of the experiences I gained from classes and co-ops over the past several years. In the future, I would like to continue my higher education and achieve a master's or advanced degree. Ultimately, regardless of the industry, I want to use my God-given gifts and abilities to make positive changes in the world.
