NATIONAL SOCIETY OF BLACK ENGINEERS (NSBE)
NSBE mission is to, "To increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community". Our UC chapter holds bi-weekly general body meetings, tutor/study sessions, career readiness workshops, community events. We also annually attend the Fall Regional Conference and the NSBE National Convention. For the upcoming '23-'24 school year, I am serving on the UC chapter executive board as a senator. I play a crucial role in preparing our chapter for the conferences and am responsible for sharing what is going on at the regional and national level with our UC general body. Our executive board meets weekly, alternating between zone meetings and the entire executive board.
Darwin T. Turner Scholars Program
The Office of Ethnic Programs & Services (EPS) offers this scholarship program to promote academic excellence, foster diversity, and provide leadership and service opportunities to incoming students. The program's goal is to enrich the educational environment for undergraduate students by supporting the recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups with high potential for academic success at the University of Cincinnati. As a Turner Scholar, I attend monthly all-scholar meetings, complete yearly diversity projects, participate in Turner Olympics and other social throughout the year, and bond with the Turner community, either on or off campus. For the upcoming '23-'24 school year, I will serve as a Turner mentor, so I be assigned with an incoming freshman and will help them acclimate to college life as best as I can.
Emerging Ethnic Engineers (E3)
The E3 Program is a comprehensive, nationally respected program which seeks to increase the number of African-American, Latinx, and Native American students in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) while helping such students achieve excellence in college and beyond. The program includes several pre-college outreach programs, as well as campus-wide recruitment and retention activities.
